WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS
Titus 3:5
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
LEADER TAKEAWAY
The gospel does not present salvation as a balance between our good deeds and God’s mercy. Scripture says God saves not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy and His work of renewal.
TRY SAYING
“I appreciate that you’re thinking seriously about mercy and doing what is right. The Bible also talks about mercy, but Titus says we are saved not because of righteous things we have done. Could we look together at what that means?”
